Street Fair

Well, the big day finally happened on Sunday my first "larger" craft fair. Since I went in with no expectations (after the tiny disappointing one in May I didn't know what to expect) I felt really good about how the day went. Of course, it could've been better (like selling all my stock!) but overall I was quite happy.

In my nervousness/excitement as the day began, I didn't take nearly enough pictures of my booth (nor very good ones with the early morning sun glare), but I'll share the ones I did get!

In addition to my Etsy shop offerings of NB-2T tutus I had longer tutus for sizes 2T-5T, which actually fit at least up to 6/7. I also had "Tutu Hair Ties" as a little impulse offering. For adults I had clothespin magnets with a sweet little handmade tulle flower and my tied tulle garlands. What was left of my original "single layer" tutus I offered as doll tutus. Some of my tutus were on a good sale. Overall my prices ranged from 2 for $1 hair ties to $18.00 for 2T-5T tutus and I sold at least one piece of everything I offered. The tutus for 2T-5T were a hit as were the fall color tutus.

I had a bowl of freebie Dum Dum suckers for the kids (with parent permission of course) and the clothespin magnet freebies for adults. At a Farmers Market on Saturday I picked up a bouquet of beautiful flowers to give my booth a little pop and my photographer friend brought a couple of prints from photos she had done with my tutus as props.

I was happy with my booth display although when it got a little windy in the afternoon I had to do some adjustments as I had some flying tutus!

Craft Show Preps

Only NINETEEN days left until the street fair!  Whew... crunch time.  I'm working on stuff for the street fair nearly every one of my little monkey's sleeping minutes- aka nap time and after 9pm.  I've even pulled a few 1 am-ers in a row.  Let me tell you, I definitely prefer the late nights of my younger days- when I could sleep until 10...11...12 instead of 6-7!!!  :)  Though the hubby does generously allow me some sleep in mornings!

Of course I'd end up with some extra hours at my two part time jobs over the next few weeks as well, so I apologize in advance for my (even worse) lack of posting.

Here is some of what I've been doing...

Sweet little stamped tags for my tutus.....

I stamped the tags (and the project below) with my custom stamp that I ordered from rubberstamps.net (not getting paid to share them at all!) it was pretty reasonable, 3.95 for that size and I could customize it completely.  Their other sizes are pretty decently priced too, with free shipping on a $20 order (usually).  Great thing is you can do artwork stamps there too, so if you have a logo you could upload it and get a stamp of it!

A small freebie surprise for booth visitors.....well the first 100ish (hopefully I'll see at least that many if not more)

These will be clothespin magnets, I just gave them their matte clear coat this afternoon, next up I will be spending a lot of time with my glue gun!

Tiny tulle flowers for use on some new items geared for adults....  Hey kids shouldn't be the only ones to get cute stuff from amgcrafts!

Of course, tutus tutus & more tutus!  And tulle garlands...

I still have a bunch of things to get done... signs... some product... some packaging but I'm super excited at how its coming together!  I'll be doing my first set up in less than a week to start figuring out placement of things and what I still need for display... maybe I'll share a few more little peaks over the next couple weeks- but now onto my list!

Craft Show Color Card

I am doing my very first craft show on Saturday. I don't think it's a very big show and it's in a pretty small town so I'm going into it with low expectations, but being small I figured it was a good first show....

This week is a whirlwind of trying to get it all ready (I really should be tutu making not blogging right now- it's getting down to the wire!). I still have a few more tutu's to make plus I want to get some flower hair accessories done as well. Then there are all the little details like thinking about possible custom orders and being prepared for that. Tonight I put together a custom order form using Excel and then threw together this quick color card to show of some of the available colors.

I started off with some 12 x 12 white cardstock and then taped folded up pieces of tulle to it. I knew pretty quickly I didn't like the look of the tape on it and decided to sew the tulle pieces on. I continued taping them all (to keep them in place) and then headed for the sewing machine. I just sewed one line right down each column to keep it easy. Because easy and fast were the goals for this. And it turned out to be easy and quick allowing me a couple of minutes to blog before I get back to the grind!

I still have to label them but that is a project for another night! I Heart Nap Time Skip To My Lou These Peas Taste Funny Poofy Cheeks Crafty Scrappy Happy
