Birthday Card

Card making is one of the first "craft" things I really really enjoyed. Not saying I'm the most talented at it, but there is something super satisfying about making a one of a kind card for someone versus buying one a the store. Even with all the different cards on the market I have on more then one occasion seen someone get two (or more!) of the same card.

So for my boss' birthday I made a little card from our group of ladies who work for her.  I created my card and then took pictures.  I really never start a card with an exact idea in mind- I just let the ideas flow.  So don't mind that a few things I used are missing and that there aren't step by step photos.

1. Pretty paper

2. Coordinating piece of card stock

3.  Deckle Scissors (favorite!!!)

4.  Singing bird stamp (another favorite!!)

5.  Happy Birthday stamp

6. Gel glitter pen

7.  Tape roller

Left out of the picture: My blank card & my red ink pad

I started off with a blank canvas of a white card &  matching envelope.  Once I picked out the pretty paper (#1) I decided to use my deckle scissors to cut a big piece out for the background of my card.

I then needed a coordinating piece of plain paper/card stock to stamp on.  I cut a rectangle and a square out of the yellow card stock and stamped them with my chosen stamps.  I added a few hand drawn music notes to tie in with the singing bird and glued it all on with my glue roller.

I also decided to jazz up the envelop a little and using the same pretty paper cut out a faux stamp and made a little fancier To: area.

Simple, but more fun and meaningful for me.

Baby Shower Gifts 2012: #3

So many babies this year! I missed out on this friends shower nearly a month ago because I was sick, and things have been pretty busy around here lately but last night we were finally able to stop by and drop off her baby gift. Since she's having a girl I got to give away another Tutu and some flower clips/headband.

I just love these tutu's and flowers. I have so much fun making them!

So the Women's Retreat was A.W.E.S.O.M.E! I knew it was going to be, and was not disappointed- well at least until it was ending. That was sad. But it was a nice refreshing, relaxing, inspiring, encouraging time. Looking forward to next year's!

I could go on for hours about the messages that were shared, about the fun things that happened, the new friends made and just everything about it, but this is a craft blog so I will leave it at just awesome and share something along the crafty lines.

( Oh, wait on more thing... my follow up letter said 39 women accepted Jesus!  YAY! sorry couldn't resist that tidbit!)

Photo taken by me but I totally can not take credit for the awesome wristruth.  Visit the creator's site @ www.treasurebags.net.  (Please do not pin this image from my site!)

At the end of the retreat we were surprised  with these amazing wristruth's which were actually made by a friend of the guest speaker.  I think it is just an amazing, beautiful and such a MEANINGFUL accessory.   Even just over the past week it's just been a great reminder at all times of God's GRACE in my life.  Just LOVE IT!  (Hence why I'm sharing!)    Definitely check out one (or all) of her sites to see all the beautiful beautiful work she does.  I love mine so much and I look forward to purchasing some as gifts over time.   (Or possibly other ones with different encouraging words for myself too :) )

Okay on to my own crafts!   Yesterday I got to attend a surprise  30th party for a friend.  {Gulp} That means my 30th isn't too far away.  YIKES- where has all the time gone???

Anyway, I had to have a little handmade addition to her gift so.....

Mini Notebook

In less than 24 hours I will be "Setting Sail" at my church's women's retreat!  Yay!  Last May I was able to attend my first ever women's retreat with my sister in law and her church.  It was awesome. If you've never gone on a women's retreat with your church, I highly recommend trying it out.  It's just an amazing time of worship and connection and fun and rest and digging into the Word.  Well, at least that was the one I went to... :) But I've heard awesome things about my church's as well.

And since I am going to be gone for the weekend, my wonderful husband took our son and went to visit some relatives.  They left this morning, so this also gave me a few extra hours of ME time tonight.  I miss them, but I am "forcing" myself to enjoy the time for myself :).

Of course ME time wouldn't be complete without some crafting.  My original craft task for the evening was finishing a carry case/cover for my Bible.  However, I gave up after several things I wanted for it didn't work out... I will revisit someday but for now it's tabled.

So I ended up with a quick little Mini Notebook project so I have something to jot down notes, verses, prayer requests etc....

I started off with a very inexpensive little composition notebook and an awesome sheet of scrapbook paper I received from my brother in law & sister in law for Christmas.
